Potstickers are called ‘guotie’ in Mandarin, which translates to ‘pot stick’ referring to the crispy bottom of the dumplings.

This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 60 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 11.

  1. Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the shiitake mushrooms, cabbage, carrots, green onions, garlic, and ginger. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add soy sauce and sesame oil to the pan and stir to combine. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
  3. Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it in half to form a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the potstickers in a single layer and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of water into the skillet and cover immediately. Cook for 5 minutes or until the potstickers are cooked through.
  6. Serve hot with soy sauce for dipping.
