Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.

Add the pumpkin, vegetable broth, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth. Alternatively, transfer the soup to a blender and blend until smooth.

Stir in the coconut milk and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Serve the soup hot, garnished with pumpkin seeds.
