  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and garlic cloves, and sauté until softened.
  4. Add the carrot and sauté for another 2 minutes.
  5. Add the rice, turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to coat the rice with the spices.
  6. Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  8. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the peas and chopped parsley.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
