Homemade Macaroni & Cheese
Macaroni and cheese originated in Italy and was brought to the United States by Thomas Jefferson. It has since become a popular comfort food in American cuisine.
This is vegetarian and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 50 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 8.

Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.

Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Cook until the mixture thickens, stirring constantly.

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until melted.

Season with salt and black pepper.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a baking dish, combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce. Mix well.

Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
