Emily’s Rockin Bagels
Bagels originated in Poland and were brought to the United States by Jewish immigrants in the late 19th century.

In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.

Add warm water and stir until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions.

Shape each portion into a ball and make a hole in the center with your thumb.

Place the bagels on a greased baking sheet.

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add honey.

Drop the bagels into the boiling water and cook for 1 minute on each side.

Remove the bagels from the water and place them back on the baking sheet.

Brush the bagels with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Let the bagels cool on a wire rack before serving.
