  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract and cinnamon.
  7. Grease a round cake pan and pour in the batter.
  8. Peel and slice the pears, then arrange them on top of the batter.
  9. Sprinkle the almond flakes over the pears.
  10. Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes before serving.
