Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cherries, raspberries, and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Cut the unsalted butter into small pieces and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined.

Pour the fruit mixture into a baking dish and spread the batter evenly over the top.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
