In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and molasses.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls, roll in white sugar, and place 2 inches apart on prepared baking trays.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until set. Allow cookies to cool on baking trays for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
