Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Peel and cut the yams into 1-inch cubes.

Core and slice the apples.

In a large bowl, combine the yams, apples, cranberries, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter, and salt. Toss to coat evenly.

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the yams are tender.
