Hot Portobello Mushroom Sandwich
Portobello mushrooms are actually mature cremini mushrooms and have a meaty texture and rich flavor.
This is vegetarian and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 30 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 12.

Preheat the grill or grill pan.

Clean the Portobello mushrooms and remove the stems.

In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.

Brush the mushroom caps with the marinade mixture.

Grill the mushrooms for about 5 minutes on each side, until they are tender.

While the mushrooms are grilling, slice the red bell pepper and onion.

Saute the sliced red bell pepper and onion in a pan with olive oil until they are soft and slightly caramelized.

Cut the ciabatta bread into sandwich-sized pieces and toast them lightly.

Spread mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice.

Assemble the sandwiches by layering lettuce leaves, grilled mushrooms, sauteed red bell pepper and onion, and provolone cheese.

Place the sandwiches back on the grill or grill pan for a few minutes to melt the cheese.
