In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the golden syrup and mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

Stir in the chopped almonds.

Shape the dough into a log and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice the chilled dough into thin rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
