Cream Cheese Shortbread
Shortbread is believed to have originated in Scotland in the 12th century and was traditionally made with only three ingredients: butter, sugar, and flour.
This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 65 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 6.

In a mixing bowl, cream together the cream cheese, butter, and sugar until smooth.

Add vanilla extract and mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the cream cheese mixture, mixing until just combined.

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch (6 cm) thickness.

Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.

Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
