  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and brown sugar until well combined. Add the vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and buttermilk, and mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined. Fold in the chopped cherries and walnuts.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
