  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add melted butter and warm water to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add baking soda and stir until dissolved.
  7. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and shape into a pretzel.
  8. Carefully drop each pretzel into the boiling water for 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Sprinkle pretzels with coarse salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
