Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, steep the black tea bags in boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the black tea, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Fold in the chopped apples.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Optional: Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar before serving.
  9. Slice and serve.
