Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a small baking dish.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, sift cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.

If desired, fold in walnuts.

Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and spread it evenly.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
