  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. In another bowl, toss the chopped apples with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  5. Spread half of the dough mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top with the apple mixture, then drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough on top.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Allow to cool for 30 minutes.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
