Baked Orange Doughnuts
Doughnuts have been popular in the United States since the mid-19th century and are often enjoyed as a breakfast treat.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a doughnut pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

In another bowl, combine the orange zest, orange juice, milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Spoon the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the doughnuts are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes.

Transfer the doughnuts to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional: Glaze the doughnuts with a mixture of powdered sugar and orange juice.
