Peel, core, and chop the apples.

Stir in the brown sugar, chai tea bags, cinnamon sticks, ground ginger, ground cloves, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt.

Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove the chai tea bags and cinnamon sticks.

Use an immersion blender or a food processor to puree the mixture until smooth.

Return the mixture to the saucepan and simmer for an additional 15 minutes.

Let the apple butter cool for 30 minutes before transferring to jars.
