In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Pour the egg mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.

Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan filled with hot water, creating a water bath.

Bake for about 50 minutes, or until the custard is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the water bath for 10 minutes.

Remove the baking dish from the water bath and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until completely chilled.

To serve, run a knife around the edges of the dish and invert onto a serving plate.
