Lemon squares are believed to have originated in the United States and have become a popular dessert in many tropical regions.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar. Mix in the flour and salt until crumbly. Press the mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until lightly golden.

In another bowl, whisk together the lemon zest, lemon juice, eggs, and sweetened condensed milk. Pour over the baked crust.

Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle the shredded coconut on top. Let cool for 1 hour.

Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar. Cut into squares and serve.
