  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  4. Pour the melted butter into the sugar mixture and stir until combined.
  5. Add in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
  6. Gradually add in the flour, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased 9x9 inch baking dish.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 1 hour before cutting into squares.
