Stuffing is a traditional Thanksgiving dish that dates back to ancient Roman times. It was originally used to stuff birds before roasting, hence the name ‘stuffing’.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and spread them on a baking sheet. Toast the bread cubes in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until they are dry and slightly golden.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and celery, and cook until they are softened.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the toasted bread cubes, cooked onion and celery mixture, chicken or vegetable broth, beaten eggs, parsley, sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  5. Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Let the stuffing rest for 10 minutes before serving.
