In a saucepan, melt the dark chocolate over low heat.

In a separate saucepan, heat the milk and sugar until hot but not boiling.

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a little water to form a slurry.

Slowly pour the cornstarch slurry into the hot milk, stirring continuously.

Continue stirring until the mixture thickens.

Remove from heat and stir in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract.
