Sugar-Coated Muffins
Muffins were originally a type of quick bread in Europe, but they evolved into the sweet, individual-sized treats we know today in America.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Grease a muffin tin or line with cupcake liners.

Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups.

Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small saucepan.

Remove the muffins from the tin and brush the tops with melted butter.

Roll the tops of the muffins in powdered sugar until coated.

Allow the muffins to cool completely before serving.
