Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just blended.
  5. Divide the batter into three equal portions. Leave one portion plain, mix the second portion with strawberry puree, and mix the third portion with red food coloring.
  6. Pour each portion of batter into a separate prepared cake pan. Smooth the tops.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once the cakes are cooled, level the tops if necessary. Place the plain cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of whipped cream on top. Place the strawberry layer on top and repeat with whipped cream. Finally, place the red layer on top and cover the entire cake with whipped cream.
  10. Decorate the top of the cake with fresh strawberries.
  11. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
  12. Slice and enjoy!
