Cinnamon rolls are believed to have originated in Sweden in the 1920s and have since become a popular sweet treat around the world.

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until warm and butter is melted.
  3. Add the warm milk mixture, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and brown sugar. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the dough.
  8. Roll up the dough tightly, starting from the long side. Cut into 12 equal slices.
  9. Place the slices in a greased baking dish, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Bake the sweet rolls for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
