Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.

Pour the butter and sugar mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 8 minutes.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle the sea salt over the toffee.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let it sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread the melted chocolate with a spatula.

Optional: Sprinkle chopped nuts over the melted chocolate.

Allow the toffee to cool and set for about 30 minutes.

Once cooled, break the toffee into pieces.
