Pulla: Finnish Cardamom Bread
Pulla is a traditional Finnish sweet bread flavored with cardamom, often enjoyed with a cup of coffee or tea.

Crush the cardamom pods and remove the seeds.

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, yeast, crushed cardamom seeds, sugar, and salt.

Add melted butter, milk, and beaten egg to the dry ingredients. Mix well.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.

Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between them. Cover with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Brush the rolls with milk and sprinkle pearl sugar on top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let the Pulla cool on a wire rack.
