Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each portion slightly with the back of a spoon.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Remove from the oven and immediately press candy eyes into the center of each cookie.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
