  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Add the chopped nuts to the dough and mix well.
  4. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and press each portion into the bottom and sides of a muffin tin to form cups.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and vanilla extract.
  6. Spoon a tablespoon of jam or preserves (if using) into each nut cup.
  7. Pour the egg yolk mixture over the jam.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the nut cups cool in the muffin tin for 10 minutes.
  10. Carefully remove the nut cups from the muffin tin and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
