  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup and heavy cream until well combined. Gradually add the powdered sugar and maple extract, whisking until smooth and creamy.
  9. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of the maple cream on top. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining maple cream over the top and sides of the cake.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. Enjoy!
