  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Place the butter in a 9-inch (23 cm) pie dish and place it in the preheated oven until the butter is melted.
  6. Carefully remove the hot pie dish from the oven and pour the batter into the dish.
  7. Return the dish to the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pancake is puffed and golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.
