Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies and mix with melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of a pie dish.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips with whipping cream. Stir until smooth and pour over the cookie crust.

In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy. Spread over the chocolate layer.

In another bowl, whisk together chocolate pudding mix and milk until thickened. Pour over the cream cheese layer.

Top with whipped topping and sprinkle with chopped nuts and maraschino cherries if desired.
