  4. Add yeast mixture, eggs, and cardamom to the flour mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. Punch down the dough and knead in the raisins and candied citron.
  8. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a greased baking sheet.
  9. Cover the loaf with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  11. In a small bowl, beat the egg yolk with water. Brush the top of the loaf with the egg wash and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  12. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  13. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before serving.
