Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in the pumpkin puree. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. In a small bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and orange food coloring until smooth. Spread the glaze over the cooled cake.
  8. Use the black decorating gel to draw a jack-o'-lantern face on the cake. Place a candy corn in the center for the pumpkin's stem.
  9. Allow the glaze to set for at least 2 hours before serving.
