Homemade Mac & Cheese
Mac and cheese originated in Italy, but it gained popularity in the United States during the Great Depression as a cheap and filling meal.
This is vegetarian and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 55 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 8.

Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.

Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until the mixture thickens.

Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.

In the greased baking dish, combine the cooked macaroni and the cheese sauce. Mix well.

Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
