Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.

In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then stir in the buttermilk and melted butter.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

Fold in the green chilies and shredded cheddar cheese.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
