Christmas Cupcakes
Cupcakes became popular in the United States during the 19th century, and the tradition of baking and decorating cupcakes for Christmas has been passed down through generations.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.

Divide the batter into three equal parts. Leave one part plain, add red food coloring to the second part, and green food coloring to the third part.

Spoon the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.

In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with a few drops of water until it reaches a thick, smooth consistency.

Spread the frosting on top of the cupcakes and decorate with candy decorations.
