Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped fresh chives.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently a few times until it comes together. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
-
Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick round. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out scones from the dough. Place the scones onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Bake the scones in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and let the scones cool for 5 minutes before serving.
