In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.

In a large bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and molasses, and mix until well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the frosting.

Once the cookies are completely cooled, frost them with the powdered sugar frosting.
