  3. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and vanilla extract together. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir until combined.
  6. Fold in the mixed dried fruits.
  7. Gradually add the milk, stirring until the dough comes together.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
