Frosted Maple Cookies
Maple syrup is a key ingredient in these cookies and it is derived from the sap of maple trees. It takes approximately 40 liters of sap to make just one liter of maple syrup!

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.

Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and maple extract to make the frosting.

Once the cookies are cooled, drizzle the frosting over the top of each cookie.

Let the frosting set for about 20 minutes before serving.
