  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg yolks.
  3. Gradually add the milk mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
  5. Layer the bottom of a serving dish with vanilla wafers.
  6. Slice bananas and place a layer on top of the wafers.
  7. Pour half of the pudding mixture over the bananas.
  8. Repeat the layers with remaining wafers, bananas, and pudding.
  9. Top with whipped cream and garnish with banana slices and crushed vanilla wafers.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
