Chocolate-Orange Cupcakes with Pistachio Buttercream

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cupcake liners.

Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a food processor, pulse the pistachios until finely ground.

In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest, beating until smooth and fluffy.
