Chocolate Chip Walnut Bars
Chocolate chip cookies were invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938 when she added chopped chocolate to her cookie recipe, expecting the chocolate to melt and create chocolate cookies. Instead, the chocolate chips retained their shape, giving birth to the iconic chocolate chip cookie.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
