In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and celery, and cook until softened.

In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, cooked onion and celery mixture, dried sage, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the chicken broth and egg. Pour the mixture over the bread cubes and stir until well combined.

Transfer the mixture to a greased crock pot.

Cover and cook on low heat for 4 hours, or until the stuffing is hot and cooked through.

Let the stuffing rest for 10 minutes before serving.
