  2. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  4. Add milk to the saucepan and heat until warm.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a baking dish. Pour half of the milk mixture over the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle half of the grated cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, milk mixture, and cheese.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
  10. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
