  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and dark chocolate together. Stir until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the sugar mixture, stirring well.
  5. Sift in the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter and sprinkle with half of the sea salt flakes.
  7. Pour the remaining batter on top and repeat the caramel and sea salt layers.
  8. Use a knife to swirl the caramel into the batter.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Allow the brownies to cool in the dish for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Cut into squares and serve.
