Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.

Cut the butter into small pieces and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until just combined.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.

Roll the dough out to a 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits using a round biscuit cutter.
